Enhancing Connectivity: Direct Train Service from Dudelange to Luxembourg City

Vun "BUDGET PARTICIPATIF 2024"

Gitt op de Projet

Dudelange, the fourth-largest municipality in Luxembourg with a population of 20,869, lacks direct public transportation connectivity to Luxembourg City. This deficiency hinders the basic need for accessible transportation for a diverse population. Currently, residents must travel to Bettembourg and transfer to reach Luxembourg City. Introducing a direct train or bus service from Dudelange would greatly enhance convenience for residents and reduce reliance on cars for commuting.

Hello, although I totally agree, just for information there is already an existing project. Today there is one direct connection each way a day during working days but as soon as the new line from Bettembourg will be completed there will be trains every 30 minutes to Luxembourg-City directly from Dudelange. All the details can be found in the National mobility plan: https://mmtp.gouvernement.lu/en/dossiers.gouvernement%2Ben%2Bdossiers%2B2022%2Bpnm2035.html There is also a direct bus (507) from Dudelange to Luxembourg-City (Kirchberg) from Monday to Saturday.

Fully agreed! a P+R linked to a direct train line would also help reduce car commuting from France (which also goes through Dudelange to avoid the saturated highway)
@Olivier de La Guéronnière this is ideal yes. There is currently a project for a P+R next to the A3 motorway linked to bus lines. There are also existing small P+R linked to the train lines in Dudelange and Bettembourg. The latter will be increased to 1000 parking spots in the next 9 years.
